Tummy Tuck | Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty :-

Abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to make the abdomen thinner and more firm. The surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall.

You might choose to have a tummy tuck Or Abdominoplasty  when u have excess belly fat or heavy skin, fat over weak lower abdominal area. 

Reason for having tummy tuck :-

There are a number of reasons you might have excess fat, poor elasticity of the skin or weakened connective tissue in your abdomen. These include:

·        Significant changes in weight

·        Pregnancy

·        Abdominal surgery

·        Your natural body type

A tummy tuck can remove loose, excess skin and fat, and tighten weak fascia. A tummy tuck can also remove stretch marks and excess skin in the lower abdomen below the bellybutton.

Caution against a tummy tuck if you :-

·        Plan to lose  significant amount of weight

·        Might consider future pregnancy

·        Have a severe chronic condition, such as heart disease or diabetes

·        Have a body mass index

·        Are a smoker

·        Had a previous abdominal surgery that caused significant scar tissue

Risk by abdominoplasty :-

Severe complications occur however in rare cases and these include blood clots, thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications or infection. Infection and blood clots are a serious potential risk after Abdominoplasty, but which occur rarely.

Some of the risk by abdominoplasty  include -

·        Fluid accumulation

·        Poor wound healing

·        Skin loss

·        Numbness or other changes in skin sensation

·        Anaesthesia complications

·        Skin discoloration

·        prolonged swelling

·        Fatty tissue found deep in the skin might die

·        Major wound separation

·        Asymmetry

·        Recurrent looseness of skin

·        Pain, which may persist

·        Persistent swelling in the legs

·        Bleeding
